Core aeration in Kitchener runs $275 for a Small lawn, $399 Medium, $549 Large, plus HST, booked each spring as its own visit. Kitchener didn’t get built all at once, and that matters here: a Huron Park lawn and a Forest Heights lawn go hard for different reasons.
The newer south end. Huron Park and Doon South went up on old farm fields. Builders strip the real topsoil, drive heavy equipment over what’s left for months, then lay a thin layer of soil and sod back on top. That sod looks fine for a season or two, then the roots hit the packed layer underneath and stop.
The established streets. Forest Heights, Alpine and Stanley Park are decades of the same mower wheels and the same path to the shed, under a mature maple canopy pulling water out of the top few inches. That ground is compacted from use, not construction, and it usually carries a thatch mat as well.
Downtown Kitchener’s older lots add a third wrinkle: a narrow boulevard strip between the sidewalk and the street that takes the brunt of the winter’s road salt. That strip is often the hardest, most tired-looking patch on the property come April.

My Huron Park sod is only a few years old. Too soon to aerate? No. New-build lawns on packed subsoil are usually the ones that need it earliest, not the ones to leave alone. The only lawn we’d tell you to skip is sod laid this year.
Does the boulevard strip by the sidewalk get done too? Yes, at no extra charge. It’s part of the mowable lawn we core, and on an older Kitchener lot it’s often the patch that needs it most.
